Hey guys!

I apologize that this last leg of development has taken so long. I thought all the UI and phone system stuff would only take a week or two, but I was way off. It was a lot of work to do all those things. Not to mention all the QoS stuff I wanted to add. Most players won't notice or appreciate these things, but I feel like they make a big difference when you add them all up. Some features won't be added until the next update, though. I wanted to add a music player,  a hidden renders gallery, and a couple of other things, but there's only so much I can do per update. Those things can be added at a later time.

The original ep1 only had about 1100 renders and 40 animations, so there's new and extended content in this update that I hope returning players will appreciate. So far, I've been getting positive feedback from proofreaders and testers. They understand some of the reasons this remaster was important for me to do. But I think it's much more than a remaster if you ask me. I believe it's important for players to have a great experience early on in a new visual novel. What I have done in this update sets that tone a lot better. The changes I made to dialogue and the additional character-building I added in this episode make for a better experience. Again, I apologize for the wait, and looking forward to hearing what you guys think.

-Jestur

all my saves are gone.like, theyre not just not working, theyre not even loading into the game from my save folder at all.
couldnt find anything about this in the devlog

I'm surprised to find out chapter 1 got a remaster/remake! I say this in the best possible way, but one of the charms of Ripples to me was how run-of-the-mill and unremarkable chapter 1 was, only to have /that/ twist as the end of it. It's kinda like the last scene slaps you on the face and tells you, " you just finished the prologue, the real story begins now, from chapter 2 onwards." And that made me look back at the unremarkable chapter 1 and think, "damn, what a great chapter, because it lulled me into thinking I had this game figured out, so the premise could sneak up on me and hit me like a brick, out of nowhere." It kinda even fit how MC is living a dull normal life, until the unexpected and exciting strikes.

I will likely replay the remastered version at some point to see how it feels now, but those are my thoughts upon finding it exists. Best of lucks with the continued development of the game ^_^!

absolutely agree. this was what made the game stand out from the dozens of others out there.

so does this mean the remaster will include any and all content to date? or is it just for the first episode?

So, we scratch current progress and begin anew with Ep1 Remaster, then wait for Ep2 Remaster? Am I right?

A lot of what Jestur wanted to fix in Episode 1 was visual, to bring it up to the same level as the rest as he kept getting better ass he went along, and wanted it all to look like the same level, visual-quality-wise. It's not a rewrite of the story, just fixing the visuals to bring it up to the same level he got it to once he got to Episode 2 and beyond.

forget save compatibility, considering my saves are not even loading into the game, i'd say we have no choice.

This is probably one of my favourite games on here and am super excited to play the remaster. <3 great job!

This game was already great and really promising! But the remaster is also good news. If thats what you wanted to do, good that you went for it! Can't wait to play it again

This is one of my most anticipated VNs and I was keen for the next episode but hearing about this remaster to set expectations accordingly would've been nice!

If you have been following my patreon or discord, a remaster was announced a long time ago. I'm sorry you guys wanted a ep5, but there were a lot of reasons I need to remaster ep1. There were features that players have been asking for a long time and it requires new coding and new saves. But this is more of a remake because some scenes are completely redone so there's new content sprinkled in. Sorry that this was a surprise for you but I hope you will still check out the remaster. It's worth a playthrough, even for returning players. I will be getting back to ep5 now and making new episode.

agree'd. i dont use cucktreon nor any other 3rd party website, i bought the game on Itch.io, not some 3rd party chat app.

Why is this the first I hear of this remake? I thought you were making headway with the next episode...

I mean, I can see why you'd remake some parts, animations in particular, but knowing that would have been nice.

Edit: If the silent downvoters think expecting an update here on itch more than once a year is too much, well, I'll wear those downvotes with pride.

You wouldn't need to be sorry about my surprise if itch got an update note. Just saying.

Good job. This game is such a solid and satisfying experience. I'm interested to go back and replay these new updates.

Hype! Unexpected

Well damn! That is quite a hefty amount of work! Looking forward to how it all turns out once it reaches Public release. Gonna be quite the play-through....

Uuuuh. I'm really glad you got to do it ("even if mostly for yourself"), but I can understnd when it's kinda always in the back of your head and keeps nagging you. :)

I love Ripples so far and am stoked to see whats different and how it will continue! <3

That's a rather large changelog. Can't wait until I can check out all of the changes for myself. Keep up the good work Jestur!

Thanks. I hope you enjoy it!
